Fairground Holdings (Pty) Limited is a subsidiary of the Botswana Development Corporation Limited (BDC). The company was established on the 21st of March 1986. The other shareholder is the Botswana Government.

Fairground Holdings (Pty) Ltd was set up primarily to operate the then Gaborone International Trade Fair, which was later expanded and upgraded to what is now the Botswana International Trade Fair.

FAIRGROUND HOLDINGS is owned 49% by the Botswana Governmet and 51% by Botswana Development Corporation Limited. The company is in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) business. Hence it trades as The Botswana Conference and Exhibition Centre. It mainly aims at direct efforts to sell its products and services through personal contact, telecommunications, and advertising.

In order to sustain itself, Fairground Holdings has since embarked on defined commercial activities. The development and growth of the company in the last five years has generally been, the expansion of our main product range and increased commercialisation approach to operations in the following areas:-.

  EXHIBITIONS
  Registration room- accommodates 6 pax to carry out registration of delegates at a time.
   
  CONFERENCE
  Dispensary room - a clinic with a waiting room for patients.
NB: 15 rooms can be used as breakaway rooms or offices during conventions
   
  RESTAURANT & BANQUETING OPERATIONS
  Open Space - Suitable for concerts, music festivals and church crusades.

We have aggressively marketed our facilities and products nationally, regionally and internationally. Our objective is to endeavour to provide at all times, modern, up-to-date faciliteis as well as professional and efficient services in all our activities.

We are fully aware that in a free market such as ours, we have to be competitive in both the pricing and quality of our service. We believe in the internationalisation of expertise in our country and in increased productivity, work ethics and transfer of technology including the much needed direct foreign investments (Dfi) opportunities. The company's current initiatives to financially restructure should ensure the self-sustenance and profitability of the company within the shortest time possible.

We are desirous of a company image that compliments the profile of our princples both locally and abroad. Our activities therefore seek to enhance the image of Botswana. To this end, we constantly aspire to improve the skills and expertise of our employees, as they are key to the success of the company and its profitability. Currently there is a review of the future organisation of events such as BITF and BITEC.
